The McNemar test is a simple but very useful statistical test seldom available from the majority of commercial packages currently available for Macintosh. It is used for the comparison of frequencies observed in 2x2 table of paired samples (for non-paired samples use the Fisher’s exact test). I’m not a statistician (just an user of statistics), so for further information refer to a good statistics textbook.

Type the observed frequency values in the appropriate four blank boxes provided. Use the tab key or the mouse for moving between boxes. For your convenience, you can also type your own headings in the Group A/B and yes/no boxes. Click the Calculate Now! button or the Calculate with Yates’ correction button (if needed) and the Chi-square value and its statistical significance will be displayed.

  38. Old data can be replaced by typing in new data or erased by clicking the Clear Data button.
